How to Organize Your Time While Working From Home
Here are some suggestions for staying on track when your work schedule is in your own hands:
- Have a specific work space
It’s a waste of potentially profitable time to spend 20 minutes every day looking for where you left a file, or setting up your work for the day at the kitchen table.
Obviously, not all home based businesses require you to be sitting at a desk. However, they do all involve supplies and information that you should have in an easily accessible and “ready to get to work” location.
- Plan your day/week/month
Rely on your watch and calendar as you would if an employer was depending on you. Try to designate working hours for yourself when interruptions will be minimized, even if you have to adjust this throughout the month.
- Avoid multitasking
There are always other things around you that need to be done when you work from home. Try not to be distracted as much as possible. The laundry will wait.
When working from home, there will always have to be room for flexibility, but having an organized schedule will go a long way in helping you make a success of your business. Good luck!
